04/11/2008 Pro Tour The last round of the National Pro Tour Series takes place at Kyalami on Saturday with at this point in time 222 entries. The day promises to be a blockbuster event with many championships stil up for grabs. Joining the usual Pro Tour categories will be the Lotus Challenge with 24 entries. |

22/10/2008 Willie Hepburn This weekends Super Series at Kyalami will see the retirement of Willie Hepburn from National Championship Racing after 43 years behind the wheel. Kyalami Marshals presented Willie with a trophy on Monday night thanking him for the many years of entertainment at the track. |

19/10/2008 Subaru / Wesbank Super Series The next round of the Wesbank Super Series will be at Kyalami this coming weekend. The event will see the launch of the new Subaru medical response cars which Kyalami Marshals are sponsored with plus the brand new STI Safety Car. The cars carry spectacular new livery and are now sponsored with Bridgestone tyres. We thank Subaru South Africa and Bridgestone for this contribution. |

15/09/2008 World Superbikes World Superbikes will return to Kyalami in 2009 on the weekend of the 15th to 17th of May.
This was announced by the Gauteng Provincial Government as another step in their plan to bring International Motorsport back to Kyalami.
With the A1 Grand Prix and World Superbikes set for next year plus a possible third yet undisclosed International event on the cards things are looking positive for the circuit. |

02/09/2008 Bed Race The Midrand Round Table will be holding their annual bed race at Zwartkops Raceway this Sunday morning. As usual Kyalami Marshals will be in attendance in force in what will be a fun filled morning. This year Kyalami Marshals will also be entering a bed which hopefully will not come last. |

25/08/2008 Regional Races Regional racing returns to Kyalami this Saturday with no less than 11 categories racing with some races being combined. It is the only occaision at this stage that regional racing will be seen at Kyalami this year except the 9 Hour in November so entry levels should be high. First race starts at 9.00 am. |

29/07/2008 Pro Tour Nationals The next round of the Pro Tour will be at Kyalami this coming Saturday. At this point there are 195 confirmed entries for the day with the largest fields being Porsche Unlimited with 34 entries and VW Challenge with 49. In the second race of the day the Shelby Can Ams will run with the Porches giving a total entry of 50 cars making for some spectacular racing. Racing gets under way at 10.30. |

21/07/2008 A1 GP Kyalami Kyalami will host the South African round of the A1GP Championship for 2008/2009 on the 20th to the 22nd of February in 2009. Team RSA unveiled their new Ferrari powered car in its new livery at a media launch on Friday. |

21/07/2008 F1 Renault Roadshow This event hits the streets of Sandton this Sunday for the second time. It promises to be just as spectacular if not more so than last years event. Nelson Piquet Jnr and Lucas Di Grassi will be the two Renault drivers on the day. The event gets going at 10.30 on Sunday with three F1 demo's during the day. |

14/07/2008 Moto X World Championships The next round of the World Moto X Championships is at Nelspruit this coming weekend, the 19th and 20th of July. Kyalami Marshals will be officiating at the event again as in the Sun City events. Tyla Rattray is currently leading the MX2 championship so with local support hopefully he can continue his winning ways. |

30/06/08 Wesbank Super Series The series has now reached the halfway mark with round six at Kyalami this Saturday. The points battle in Class A Production Cars is extremely tight with only 10 points seperating the first 4 drivers. On top of this there will be Wesbank V8's and Formula Volksagen both attempting to be the fastest around Kyalami. Topping the day out will be superbikes and supersport and VW Polos. There should also be a demo by the F1 Renault Roadshow halfway through the day. |

A1 GP The 2008/2009 A1 GP calendar has been announced with the South Africa date set for the 22nd of February. The venue has yet to be confirmed although Kyalami has been at the forefront of possibilities. The season kicks off at Mugello on the 21st of September 2008. |

Annual Awards Evening Kyalami Marshals had their Annual Awards Evening for 2007 on Saturday the 31st of May 2008. The event was well attended by close to 170 people. The major award winners were John Van Der Merwe for Marshal of the Year and Turn 3 for Post Chief and Crew for the year. Other winners will be able to be seen on the Annual Awards page. |

Pro Tour The next round of the Pro Tour is at Kyalami on the 12th of April. At this point in time there are 225 entries so you can expect big fields in most categories. First session on Saturday is at 7.30 with racing starting at 9.45. Joining the Pro Tour for this event will be the Lotus Challenge and the Sports Racing Association. |

Renault F1 Roadshow Renault has releases its 2008 provisional calendar for their Roadshow. This event will again happen in Johannesburg in 2008 between the 16th and 27th of July. More details are still to follow but all indications are that the street event will again be in Sandton on the same course. |

Formula One A South African Formula One fan has started a website http://formulafun.mindfuse.org/ It gives various news items but the big attraction is the ongoing competition giving Formula One addicts the chance to predict on the races throughout the year and compete against each other in a points table. Even though the season has already started it is not too late to join now. |

Wesbank Super Series The first round of the national racing calender for Wesbank Super Series starts at Kyalami this weekend on the 15th of March. This year is probably more anticipated than any other in recent years. Production cars sees a huge influx of Class T cars entering the fray with Seat, Ford and Mazda all joining the existing Mini's and Golf GTI's. There should be approx 18 cars on the grid. Together with the balance of production cars could see a total grid of up to 50 cars. The all new Volkswagen single seater series will also be keenly watched. All the other usual categories will be there, all of them with more entries than last year. |

A1 GP Durban The A1 GP returns to Durban for the third time this weekend. The race is the only street race on the calendar and will include support races for the Execuline Shelby Can Ams and the GT Challenge.
Kyalami Marshals will be running the marshalling for the first time this year in Durban and will be sending a large contingent down for the event. |

SAGMJ Motorsportsman of the Year The 2007 Bridgestone/SAGMJ Motorsportsman of the Year function was held last night and the winner was the well deserved Serge Damseaux, the ten times national rally champion. The Colin Watling Award for contribution to motorsport in which Kyalami Marshals was also a nominee went to Glynn Hall, the boss of Nissan Motorsport in South Africa. |

David Piper Weekend This weekend sees the return of the Historic David Piper Series at Zwartkops Raceway, as usual it will be attended by all types of Historic cars both local and overseas. There are some big fields entered in some of the categories which should make the day really worthwhile. In addition there is a Motorcycle Day which will include the greats from the past both local and International. |

F1 Renault Roadshow The Gauteng Provincial Government and the ING Renault Formula One Team have announced a partnership aiming at promoting Gauteng as the home of competitive sport. The partnership is for one year and includes another street demonstration set for the 27th of July 2008 in Gauteng. |

ProTour The first race meeting of the year is fast approaching with the PoTour at Kyalami on the 26th of January. One of the highlights will be the new body on the Execuline Shelby Can Ams which apparently will lead to faster lap times. The other categories will all be the same as last last year. |

MPH Show It is back for the second year at the Coca-Cola Dome with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and Sasha Martinengo again presenting it. Kyalami Marshals will be involved with the show again with a total of 10 shows over the four days. MPH London happened last November so you can expect a lot of new and exciting content. |

Motorsport in 2008 The calendar for 2008 has been released and can be seen under Race Meetings. Kyalami will have ten race meetings during the year including the 50th Anniversary 9 Hour. The last race of the year will be a first with the Super Series Soweto Street Race. |

Super Series The last round of the 2007 Super Series takes place at Kyalami on the 24th of November. With seven championships still to be decided there should be plenty of action. All eyes will be on the Bridgestone Production Car Championship where Johan Fourie ( Audi ), Shaun Watson-Smith ( Audi ) or Leeroy Poulter ( Nissan ) could take the title. |

9 Hour Revival On Saturday the 9 Hour returns to Kyalami, the event has attracted close to 100 entries with three different classes racing. There will be an open practice on Friday night, both in daylight and the dark with first practice on Saturday at 7.00 am. The races are from midday through to 9.00 pm. |

Farewell to Wesbank Raceway The last ever circuit race meeting took place at Wesbank Raceway on Saturday the 10th of November 2007. The race meeting was well attended by competitors and spectators alike and the circuit provided some good racing to bow out with. It will be a shame to go into next year without this circuit on the calendar. Thanks to Wesbank Raceway for 4 years of good racing. |

Kyalami Press Release Motortainment as part of Universal Property Professionals held a press release on the 31st of October to outline the future at the track and the upcoming season finale Wesbank Super Series. On the 24th of November the circuit will host the final round of the Super Series with quite a few championships up for grabs. All eyes will be on Bridgestone Production Cars where anyone of three drivers could clinch the title. Motortainment will be promoting the event heavily in the run up to the race meeting. They also announced plans for 2011 when the circuit will reach its 50th anniversary whereby there will be many activities to celebrate this. More details will follow. International racing should also return to Kyalami in 2009 and at the moment there are talks with various series to achieve this. |

Pro Tour November The last round of the Pro Tour is at Kyalami on the 3rd of November. All the usual categories will be there with the addition of the Lotus Challenge which makes its debut at Kyalami for 2007. The VW Challenge series should provide the closest racing on the day with Overall VW Challenge Champion for 2007 still up for grabs. On top of this the Shelby Can-Am, Porsche Unlimited and Formula Vee titles will all be decided on the day. |

9 Hour Revival It has been confirmd by organisers that David Piper will return to Kyalami with his Ferrari 250LM in which he won the 1964 9 Hour at Kyalami. More overseas entries are still expected. |

Kyalami 2008 The provisional calendar for National Racing has been announced for 2008. The first round of the Super Series will take place at Kyalami on the 8th of March with further rounds at the circuit on the 5th of July and the 4th of October. The first round of the Pro-Tour will be at Kyalami on the 16th of February with further rounds at Kyalami on the 12th of April, 13th of September and 15th of November. The 9 Hour will take place on the 8th of November. |

Kyalami 9 Hour The 9 hour event on the 17th of November will be split into three classes,Pre-1966 cars which is open to cars which competed in the 9 Hour between 1958 and 1965;Pre-1977 cars which is open to cars from 1966 to 1976 and Pre-1988 cars open to cars from 1974 to 1987. The provisional programme is that racing will commence on the Saturday at Midday with three 45 minute races, then there will be three one hour endurances with three 30 minute races then held in the dark. |

Wesbank Raceway The last circuit race meeting will happen at Wesbank Raceway on the 10th of November. In December the circuit, which first opened its gates in July 2003, will officially close. The race meeting on the 10th will have regional classes yet to be confirmed. |

Pro Tour The next round of the Pro Tour is at Kyalami on Saturday the 8th of September. There will be a number of new cars and faces in some of the categories with currently 244 entries in 14 races for the day, so each race will have a decent field, which should provide for an excellent racing spectacle. |

9-Hour The 9-Hour returns to Kyalami on the 17th of November. The race may not be a continuous nine hours but rather made up of a combination of sprint and endurance races, but other than that will follow the format of the previous 9-Hour races. The racing will start at midday and finish at 9.00 pm with a parade and fireworks display. The event should hopefully attract many of the cars featured in the 9-Hours of old and in 2008, the 50th anniversary of the first 9-Hour held, an even bigger event is planned by hopefully attracting many overseas competitors. |

Zwartkops Super Series The next round of the Super Series takes place at Zwartkops on the 1st of September. It will feature the usual categories namely Bridgestone Production cars with the BMW's back in the fray, Wesbank V8's and the VW Polo Cup. Adding to the action will be the Historic Trans Ams which will add some real historic musclepower to the action. Formula GTI will round off the days racing. |

A1 Grand Prix The A1 Grand Prix calendar for 2007/2008 has now been released. The South African date has been set for the 24th of February 2008 in Durban.
On the 7th of August 2007 there will be four rookies who will try out for the South Africa team. This test will be held at Pakisa racetrack.
They are Kyle Mitchell, Marc Murray, Wesleigh Orr and Leeroy Poulter. Following the Phakisa test, where they will drive two high performance single seater race cars, two of the drivers will be selected to travel to Great Britain to test in an A1GP race car at Snetterton on August 15th. |

Renault F1 in Sandton The F1 Renault Roadshow was held in Sandton, Johannesburg recently. Two 2006 Formula One cars were brought out and driven by Giancarlo Fisichella and Nelson Piquet Jnr. Kyalami Marshals officiated at the event which was attended by many tens of thousands of Formula One fans. The cars reached speeds close to 260 km/h through the street circuit and for many was the first time they had seen or heard a Formula One car live. The event was co-ordinated by ------ |

Sponsorship from Subaru Kyalami Marshals Association have over the years had various sponsors who have supplied or contributed to marshals shirts and overalls. Just recently Subaru has taken up sponsorship of the marshal shirts for Kyalami Marshals.
The Association is very grateful for this sponsorship which includes supplying two follow on vehicles to be used by the Fire & Rescue team at every race meeting at Kyalami for the foreseeable future. |
